Prague

Prague is the Czech Republics capital and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site that is ideal for those who like to explore on foot. Prague enjoyed a reputation as one of the main players in Europe but after the 2nd World War disappeared under communism only to resurface after the 1989 revolution. Prague has recently gone a modern renaissance that has made it one of Europes top city break destinations, Spires and cobblestone streets, Museums and galleries can be found among the cities streets. A young more vibrant Prague has made it an ideal destination for those wanting a change from the norm in there city break.

Attractions

Prague being a historical centre means that there is allot of attrcations all within easy reach. The Castle district is the main area and has the main attractions including the Castle and Cathedral .The Old town full of cobbled streets and alley ways that lead you to the Town square and the New town to the east is a more modern area with wide boulevards and the National Gallery. Opera and ballet as well as many art galleries can be found which just adds to the cities cultural scene.

Restaurants

Traditional cuisine in Prague is based around pork and beef with dumplings or fries. Popular desserts range from fruit dumplings, crêpes or ice cream. Restaurants tend to become very overcrowded during the lunch and dinner hours so booking a table in advance is always a good idea. For those who love seafood then Prague is maybe not the best of destinations as Pragues location means that seafood is harder to get so seafood restaurants are not only hard to find but more expensive than your usual restaurant.

Tips are the noraml 10 to 15% and taxes are always included in the price. Many restaurants in heavily-touristed areas will charge a cover charge in addition to your standard meal cost.

Shopping

Shopping in Prague has everything covered from the old to the new. The famous Wenceslas Square is where the main shopping boulevard can be be found. The streets around the old town are full of gift shops geared towards tourists, selling bohemian crsytal and various football shirts, arts, crafts and various printed paintings can also be picked up at very cheap prices.
