General information:

The famous Tivoli Gardens and Town Hall Square, the heart of the old town, are a great starting point from which to visit this vibrant city. Close by is Stroget, the longest pedestrian shopping street in Europe. Although well-known for its great shopping district and nightlife, Copenhagen is also very family friendly, with many gardens and museums providing play areas and activities. Popular attractions include the National Museum with its own children's museum, the Amalienborg palace and Kastellet, with the Little Mermaid statue nearby.

Getting to your hotel:

By bus:

Imperial, Palace and Mermaid (ex Komfort): ExpressBus from the airport direct to city centre (30 mins, DKK 35), then very short walk to hotel.
Use Kvaesthusbroen bus stop for the Admiral hotel.

By rail:

Cosmopole, Copenhagen Crown and Du Nord: Train to Central station (20 mins, DKK 20), then very short walk. Esplanaden: Get the train from the airport and get off at the Osterport station. From there it is a 5 minute walk.

By taxi:

Taxi direct from the airport: 20 mins, approx. DKK 160.

Getting around:

Although most of Copenhagen can be discovered by foot, you can buy the Copenhagen Card, which will get you unlimited travel on buses, plus free entrance to many sights and museums including Tivoli Gardens. Available from your hotel or the tourist office (valid for 1 to 3 days, starts at DKK155 for one day).

Shopping hours:

Shops usually open from 9.30am to 5.30pm or 7.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 2.00pm or 5.00pm on Saturday (closed on Sunday). The main shopping area in Copenhagen is in and around the pedestrianized zone of "Stroget".
