Getting to your hotel:By bus:Airport Bus: a yellow EMT bus, marked Aeropuerto, runs every 10 mins between all the Barajas terminals and the Plaza de Colon, with six stops en route (costs approx. 2.50 Euros, journey takes around 30 mins). By rail:Metro Line 8 runs from the airport (Barajas) to Nuevos Ministerios. Single journey costs 1.15 Euros. By taxi:Only use taxis from the official ranks outside the terminals and ignore drivers who approach you inside the building. Taxis to the centre are good value and cost approx. 20 Euros. Getting around:The best way to get around Madrid is on foot. Most of the main attractions, restaurants and nightlife are within comfortable distance of the main axes of Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Gran Via and the Paseo del Prado. Shopping:Shops are generally open from 9.30am to 1.30pm and 4.30pm to 7.30pm although some of the larger high street chains may stay open all day. Many shops are closed on Saturday afternoons.
