Getting to your hotel:

By bus:

20 mins to Piazzale Roma (approx. 2.5 Euros), then short walk to Canal E Walter, Olimpia, Arlecchino, Locanda Gaffaro, Bellini, Hesperia, Il Mercante de Venezia and Pausania.
Vaporetto ride to Rialto for Rialto, Malibran,Locanda Armizo, Locanda S.S. Giovanni e Paolo, Locanda La Corte, Antico Doge.
Vaporetto to Ca D'Oro for Tintoretto and Ca D'oro. Vaporetto to Madonna dell'Orto for Grand Hotel dei Dogi.
Vaporetto to San Toma for Pantalon & Vaporetto to Tre Archi for Hotel Tre Archi.

By taxi:

Private water taxi: c. 30 mins to your hotel, approx. 80 Euros.
Lido hotels Helvetia, Villa Ada, Villa Edera, Villa Mabapa, Villa Casanova, and Russo Palace are within 5 mins walk from the Lido Vaporetto boarding stage. Short bus ride to Buon Pesce, Venezia 2000 and Rivamare hotels.

Other transport:

Public boat: Hourly to St Mark's Square and the Lido.
Buy your ticket from the Alilaguna ticket booth at the airport and take the free shuttle bus (5 mins) to the vaporetto, which takes approx. 1hr and costs 9.81 Euros.
Then short walk to Orseolo, Hotel & Dipendenza Santa Marina, Villa Igea, Metropole, Alcyone, Panada, Monte Carlo, All'Angelo, Diana, Locanda Casa Querini, Gorizia a la Valigia, Residenza ca'del Campo, Palazzo San Giorgio degli Schiavoni, Savoia E Jolanda, Concordia, Colombina, Locanda Vivaldi, Dipendenza al Leon, Locanda Correr, San Zulian, and Casa Verardo.

Getting around:

Venice is a delight to explore on foot, finding your way through the narrow streets and over the many canals. No.1 and No.52 water bus (vaporetto) routes are ideal for sightseeing. Vaporetti are the easiest and cheapest way to get around, but a gondola ride is a must! The Lido is a 10 min ferry ride to St Marks Square. Waterboats continue throughout the night. One day, three day or weekly passes can be purchased (approx 9 Euros, 18 Euros and 30 Euros respectively) which are valid on all public boats in Venice and to the islands of Murano, Burano and the Lido (and can also be used on buses on the Lido).

Other important information:

In line with Italian Law, most hotels will still offer the option of smoking rooms but smoking will be banned in all public areas of the hotel including the reception, restaurants, breakfast rooms etc. However, some premises will have a separate area for smokers where ventilation is installed.

Shopping:

Shops generally open from 9.00am to 7.30pm but some will close for lunch between 12.30 and 3.30pm, as well as Sunday and Monday mornings.
