Our opinion:
Officially rated as a 1 star, we feel the Abalon definitely deserves a 2 star rating. Whilst simple, the bedrooms are a good size and are clean and pleasantly furnished. There is a small lobby area with seating and a separate breakfast room. Located between the Parc Guell and the Sagrada Familia, it is easy to reach other central tourist areas by public transport. A good budget choice!

Our opinion:
Located in a small side street just off the bottom of the Ramblas, close to the old Port and red light district. Simple apartment style accommodation which is bright and clean, with a basic kitchenette area. There are hotel facilities of reception, breakfast area and popular cafe bar. (Officially rated 3 keys).

Our opinion:
Officially a one star hotel we feel a two star rating is fair, however, the Internacional is very simple and best suited to students and those on a restricted budget. This is a small hotel that is very typically Spanish with a superb location right on the Ramblas. Pleasant public areas on the first floor include a breakfast room and TV lounge with small bar. Rooms are rather old fashioned and can be on the small side.

Our opinion:
Brand new hotel situated in one of the main shopping and business districts, and within easy reach of the tourist areas using public transport. Red and white colours are used throughout, which give clean lines and warm tones. The pleasant bedrooms are fitted with modern facilities. There is a small breakfast room.

Our opinion:
Close to the modernist attractions of the Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell and Sant Pau hospital, with easy transport links to other parts of the city, this is a comfortable little property. Bedrooms are clean and well maintained. There is a small lounge area above the lobby and continental breakfast may be taken here, or in the rooms. Guests also have the option to eat breakfast in the Hotel Abalon, around the corner, where a cold buffet is provided.

Situated in a business and residential area of Barcelona, this is a good location for the shops on Diagonal Avenue, and there is easy access to other parts of the city. This is a modern property offering a good standard of accommodation for its category. Located on the north side of Barcelona, not far from the famous Sagrada Familia, there are good transport links to other central tourist areas. Bedrooms are bright, modern and well appointed. Modern hotel offering clean and comfortable accommodation of a good standard. Situated in a quiet residential and business area on the north side of the city. Close to underground for direct metro access to the Ramblas (8 stops) and Catalunya Square (9 stops) which takes about 15 mins.

Our opinion:
Modern hotel, situated in Calle Aragon, with easy access to any point in the city. Very close to Gaudi's beautiful Sagrada Familia Church and just 5 metro stops from Catalunya Square. The rooms are comfortable but quite plain and simple. There is a large restaurant and also a coffee bar.

Our opinion:
Situated in the heart of Barcelona, next to Plaza Catalunya and the Ramblas, this is an intimate, stylish hotel with decor and fittings that exceed its 2 star rating. There is a modest lobby with an adjoining snack bar and downstairs the breakfast room has arched ceilings and subdued lighting. Bedrooms are contemporary with a neutral colour scheme, wood floors and modern amenities that include an espresso coffee machine.

Our opinion:
Bright, welcoming hotel of an excellent standard, situated in one of the city's business areas, yet close to the shops of Avenida Diagonal and Paseo de Gracia. There is a marbled entrance hall, a pleasant breakfast room and spacious terrace with outdoor seating in summer. The bedrooms are of a modern design with a good range of facilities.

Our opinion:
Traditional, well run hotel that is delightfully Spanish in ambience. Accommodation is to a good standard throughout. Beautiful wood panelled breakfast room with a pretty outdoor patio. Great location near Plaza Catalunya and Gothic Quarter.

A listed building and reputedly the city's oldest hotel. Very centrally located on the Ramblas. Bedrooms are of varying styles and often spacious. Large and very historically ornate breakfast room. Officially rated 3 star.

Our opinion:
Contemporary hotel offering a high standard of accommodation and a minimalist decorative style throughout. Bedrooms have parquet flooring, warm red tones and modern amenities, and many have views of the sea. There is a bright cafe bar which also has seating for more formal dining. Located in the up and coming '22 @' district, the hotel is just a short stroll to Bogatell beach and a few minutes by metro to the busier shopping and tourist areas.

Our opinion:
Modern aparthotel, located within walking distance of many points of interest, yet in a quieter area of the city centre. Our opinion:
Within a new building in the Eixample district, in the centre of Barcelona, the Aranea is in a great location for visiting the famous Sagrada Familia and the shops of Paseo de Gracia. The contemporary bedrooms have parquet flooring, quality fittings and modern facilities. The Espai Apsis is a relaxing lounge with computers and internet. There is a rooftop sunterrace and bikes can be hired to reach the seafront via the nearby cycle paths.

Our opinion:
Great central location close to Plaza Catalunya and the Ramblas. Very good standard of accommodation and friendly staff. Contemporary design runs throughout this small, stylish hotel which offers a bar service and breakfast room on the first floor. Bedrooms are bright and modern.

Welcoming hotel offering good standards, in a central location on the edge of the old town and within walking distance of shopping and historical areas. Our opinion:
A small hotel with traditional character situated not far from the Sants railway station, only one train stop to the Ramblas and the historic centre of Barcelona (about 30 minutes if you fancy walking). Well equipped rooms are decorated in different styles, although some are a little small. There is a bar and breakfast room with an outside patio area for the warmer months.

Modern hotel of a good 3 star standard. The lobby has a small bar area adjoining and there is a pleasant breakfast room downstairs. Our opinion:
New hotel in a central location between Plaza Catalunya and Plaza Espanya, ideally situated for both business and leisure. Modern in style, there is a bright marbled lobby which leads to an open-plan bar and breakfast area with natural light. The agreeable bedrooms are furnished in red and cream fabrics with dark wood fittings, and are equipped with modern amenities, making for a comfortable stay.

Great location on a small street in the heart of the Gothic area, just off the Ramblas. A delightfully traditional, family-run hotel with many period features and high ceilinged rooms. Breakfast is served in the attractive restaurant, 'La Luna', which has glass windows in the ceiling and a small bar adjoining.

Within a protected building, the Park has an ideal location on the edge of the Gothic quarter, and friendly, attentive staff. Converted from an ancient monastery, the popular Sant Agusti overlooks a small square, just minutes from the Ramblas in the heart of Barcelona. Situated in the heart of Barcelona on a pedestrian shopping street, a few minutes from Plaza Catalunya and the famous Ramblas. The building was once a palace and the original facade and marble staircase have been maintained. Attractive reception area and breakfast room. Rooms are comfortable and well decorated.

Our opinion:
New, contemporary hotel in the business area of Sant Just, on the outskirts of Barcelona, around 10 minutes drive from the airport and 15 minutes into the city centre. The fully-equipped bedrooms have a designer feel with parquet floors, cream and beige tones and an espresso maker. The restaurant serves International and Mediterranean cuisine and there is also a bright snack bar. There is an outdoor pool in the gardens.

Our opinion:
In the heart of Barcelona, just a few steps from the Gothic cathedral, this is a modern style hotel in a traditional building. There is a small but welcoming foyer and a bar area on the first floor. Bedrooms are classic in design and there are good standards of service throughout. Locally rated as a 4 star but we feel it is more a very good 3 star, offering good value for money.

Our opinion:
Small hotel, within a historic building and maintaining the original facade and stone staircase. Rooms are contemporary in style and well equipped, and the tiling effect in the bathrooms is reminiscent of the architect Gaudi. There is a small bar and breakfast area and a pretty interior patio enclosed by glass walls adds an original feature. High standards of service and a superb location on a pedestrian street in the Gothic quarter, just minutes from the Cathedral and Ramblas.

Our opinion:
Within a classical building, this well-maintained hotel is centrally located on the Avenida Diagonal, in the heart of the commercial district of Barcelona. Rooms have been renovated to a good standard and are modern and comfortable. Smart bar area. Easy access to more central tourist areas by public transport, taking 10 to 15 mins.
