Our opinion:
Modern, simple hotel situated approximately 10 minutes from Central Station adjoining several student apartments. Grunerlokka, a fashionable eating and drinking area popular with the locals is just a short stroll away. Rooms with shower only are brightly decorated and offer a good level of comfort for a hotel of this standard. Cosy bar and lounge area with outside terrace for relaxing in the summer months. Excellent choice for budget travellers.

Munch: General Munch

Our opinion:
Located a short walk from Karl Johan, the main shopping street and within easy walking distance of the city's main attractions. The hotel is named after the Norwegian painter, Edvard Munch and throughout the hotel copies of his paintings brighten up the walls. The contemporary style lobby with its modern furnishings and plants provides a relaxing setting for guests to unwind. Bedrooms are decorated in a modern Scandinavian style in bright colours and are furnished to a very good standard. Bathrooms are with shower only and although very compact are well maintained.

Terminus: General Terminus

Our opinion:
This simple hotel, with its convenient location, just a short stroll from Central Station, provides a great base from which to explore the city's main attractions. Brightly decorated rooms are comfortably furnished. Although there is no bar or restaurant, the hotel does have a nice, large, traditional style breakfast room and there are numerous dining options in the surrounding area.

Bondeheimen: General Bondeheimen

Our opinion:
Superb central location next to Oslo's main street, Karl Johan and close to all the major sights. Founded in 1913 this modern hotel maintains its Norwegian charm and traditions. Rooms vary slightly in size and decor but all offer a good standard of comfort. Authentic Norwegian home cooking is served in the hotel's cafe and is a popular choice with the locals. The in-house arts and crafts shop, which offers the best of Norwegian artefacts, is perfect for buying those last minute souvenirs.

Our opinion:
Centrally located next to the Royal Castle and the main shopping street Karl Johan. Well equipped bedrooms would benefit from some refurbishments as the decor is looking rather worn. Contemporary style bar is popular for coffees during the day. Pleasant courtyard popular in the summer months.

Our opinion:
This hotel enjoys a prime central location on the city's main shopping street, Karl Johan, with the Royal Palace and National Theatre just a short stroll away. One of Oslo's historical late 18th century buildings, the hotel has maintained its traditional style with Norwegian folk art displayed throughout. Classically decorated bedrooms are comfortable and well maintained. Quaint Norwegian style breakfast room. The adjoining atmospheric bar and restaurant, under separate management, are popular local venues. Homely, traditional property with superb location.

Our opinion:
Situated opposite the Town Hall, within easy walking distance of the city's main attractions. Attractive lobby with its huge mirror has quite an arty feel to it. Rooms are brightly decorated in a classic style. Striking ultra modern breakfast room decorated in fashionable blues, pinks and greens. The hotel's atmospheric bar is a popular venue with locals and guests alike.

Our opinion:
Charming, privately owned boutique hotel located just a short walk from central station and the main shopping street, Karl Johans Gate. Traditional in style and elegantly decorated the hotel is full of character. The cosy lounge area with its open fire and classic furnishings resembles an English drawing room and provides the perfect place for guests to relax. Individually decorated bedrooms are classical in style and provide a good level of comfort. Guests have complimentary use of the hotel's small fitness room, sauna and Jacuzzi.

Our opinion:
Modern property located in Nydalen, approximately 5km from the city centre. Adjacent to the hotel is a shopping mall and underground station where a frequent direct service to central station operates (journey time approx. 20 mins). The contemporary lobby has a welcoming seating area with a log fire that leads on to the stylish bar and restaurant. The vibrant, fun bedrooms are well equipped and follow either an 'Urban' or 'Chilli' theme. Urban rooms have an African feel to them decorated with oranges, purples and tiger prints whilst the Chilli rooms are red and green. A popular choice with the business traveller but also a good out of town alternative for anyone travelling for leisure.

Our opinion:
Large central hotel located above a shopping arcade, close to the Royal Castle. Spacious bedrooms are decorated according to a variety of themes including Japanese, Art Deco and Maritime. The hotel's fashionable bar, Summit 21 is a popular venue with guests and locals alike, providing spectacular views across the city, even from the men's urinals! Guests have complimentary use of the indoor swimming pool and small in-house fitness area.

Our opinion:
Modern property situated adjacent to Oslo Central Station, opened in May 2001. Rooms, most with parquet flooring, are decorated in a traditional style in bright colours such as golds and reds. Hotel's main restaurant is extremely spacious and with its huge windows provides great fjord views. Other in-house facilities include a cosy bar, a library, and a small fitness room with sauna.

Royal Christiania: General Royal Christiania

Our opinion:
Centrally located within easy walking distance of all major attractions. Originally built for the Winter Olympics in 1952, this hotel is one of the largest in Norway. Numerous refurbishments throughout the years have ensured the hotel retains a modern style. Bedrooms decorated in neutral shades are contemporary in design and adhere to the principals of Feng Shui. Free use of small relaxation area with plunge pool, sauna and mini gym.
