Our opinion:
This simple hotel is in a great location, just off Via Nazionale. Located in a traditional residential building, reception is on the 2nd floor, next to which there is a small lounge and breakfast room. Rooms are basic, in a modern style though generally in need of redecoration, but for those looking for a budget option in a central position this hotel could be a good choice. Intimate surroundings with friendly staff.

Centrally located just round the corner from Piazza Repubblica and 5 mins walk from the main station, this is a good base from which to explore Rome. Straight forward, basic accommodation and informal ambience. Official rating 3 star. New breakfast courtyard. Picture is of a large family room.

Cosy 20 room hotel well located in historic Rome, by the Basilica of S. Maria Maggiore. Unpretentious accommodation with new modern bathrooms providing a comfortable base for a hotel of this category. Reception on the first floor. No lift.

Informal hotel located on the 4th and 5th floors of a 19th century building in the historic centre of Rome a few paces from Termini Station. The rooms and corridors have been recently decorated in bright colours with summery appeal. Unfussy accommodation with a relaxed ambience. Internet corner beside breakfast room available free of charge for guests.

Our opinion:
Small and intimate with only 12 rooms, hotel Teti is an above average 2 star hotel, hence our superior rating. Totally renovated throughout offering simple but modern functional surroundings. The hotel is situated in a central position, only a few minutes walk from the mainstation. Air Conditioning at extra charge (13 Euros/day payable direct to hotel)and most of the rooms have Cable TV.

Located on the first floor of a residential building this small residence, run by 2 brothers who speak impeccable English, offers home-away-from-home surroundings. Centrally located in the heart of the city opposite the stairs of the Basilica of S. Maria Maggiore, and an easy walk to the Colosseum and Forum. Officially a 3 star, this is a comfortable no-frills hotel. Quad rooms available.

An old, traditional Roman hotel under Chinese management that has been recently renovated throughout. Many of the original features of the building have been maintained and restored such as the wide staircase up to the first floor. Rooms are in a modernised traditional style. (officially 3 star)

Welcoming hotel with a home-away-from-home appeal located on Piazza Manfredi Fanti, just a short walk from Termini station and hence an ideal base from which to explore the wonders of Rome. Recently renovated public areas and comfortable rooms that vary in style. Air conditioning is available at an extra cost, payable direct to the hotel. (officially 3 star)

Good quality hotel for its star rating, a small establishment with well-maintained rooms. Reception and rooms are located on the 4th floor of a residential building with a roof top terrace where breakfast is served in the summer. The rooms are fairly spacious for Roman standards given the history of the hotel, and the bathrooms have been modernised. Great location in the historic centre of Rome, just off Via Nazionale.

Very good 3 star hotel, which has been completely renovated in a tasteful classic modern style, with all the necessary modern amenities. This small hotel offers an intimate and cosy atmosphere and a high standard of accommodation for a hotel of its category, though some rooms are on the small side. Good bustling location near the Basilica of S. Maria Maggiore and within walking distance of the Colosseum.

This homely hotel has 40 rooms on 3 floors of a residential building. The hotel has recently been upgraded from 2 star to 3 star category following an ongoing renovation of the rooms. The rooms are well maintained, decorated in varying styles, some with murals or fresco ceilings, and all with modern bathrooms. Well located, a couple of minutes to the quieter side of Termini station, hence an easy walk to Rome's historical centre.

A unique and characteristic hotel, with simple inside decor verging on what you would expect of a castle. Medieval banquet style breakfast room and large downstairs lounging area. Quiet location, close to Colosseum, Forum and some of Rome's attractive parks. Enviable roof garden with panoramic views across Rome's skyline. There will be an extra charge for the air conditioning.

Traditional hotel with old antique furnishings, in a convenient location in Rome's historic centre within easy walking distance of most attractions. Rooms are simple and old fashioned but quite spacious for Rome standards owing to the historic palazzo in which the hotel is located. Hotel also boasts a new conservatory which serves as the breakfast room and garden terrace. Hotel offers airport transfer service at a cost to be arranged directly with the hotel.

Located in the heart of Rome, just by Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome's famous Basilica, and within easy walking distance of Via Veneto, and the Colosseum. Small and cosy hotel with breakfast terrace up on the roof. The hotel has recently renovated all its rooms in an elegant style with tasteful shades of green and yellow. Home to what must be one of the smallest lifts in the country, and some rooms can be quite compact, but quaint and appealing none-the-less.

A small, unelaborate but professionally run hotel a short walk from Via Veneto, and close to the beautiful wooded park Villa Borghese. Friendly lobby bar and small patio to enjoy the Roman sunshine. Official rating 4 Star but rooms in some need of renovation hence our preferred 3 star rating.

This hotel offers comfortable accommodation in spacious rooms, which vary in style - some more traditional than others. All areas are well maintained, including the bedrooms, each of which has a balcony. The hotel also has the benefit of a pleasant garden area. The location is ideal for those arriving into Ciampino airport, especially as the hotel also provides airport pick- ups on request (to be arranged with hotel in advance), and also has car parking.

The hotel is located in a residential & business area so there is little in walking distance, however they offer a free pick up & drop off service from the nearest tube at the beginning and end of the day, as it is not possible to reach the station on foot.

Located in the centre of Rome a couple of minutes away from Termini station and close to the Teatro dell'Opera, this hotel is ideally located to access all parts of the city. The hotel is decorated in quite a traditional style offering cosy surroundings and ensuring maximum comfort.

Small and intimate hotel, 2 minutes walk to the quieter side of Termini station. Homely unpretentious rooms, well looked after, offering a welcoming ambience. The entrance and reception area have been renovated recently, adding to the hotel's professional service. Historic and cultural Roman sites within easy walking distance, hence a good tourist base.

Great location on Vatican side of river but within close proximity of Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona (10 mins walk). Small, family run, traditional hotel taking up 3 floors of a residential building. Rooms are tastefully decorated in a traditional style. Reception is on the 1st floor. There is an extra charge of 10 Euros per room per day for air conditioning.

Fully renovated hotel located in an upmarket residential area of Rome with great public transport access direct to the centre. Piazza Bologna underground is 300m away (3 stops to Termini, 5 stops to Colosseum) and buses go from outside the hotel direct to Termini or Piazza Barberini. Well maintained hotel, providing every comfort, professional service and a relaxing ambience.

A modern hotel in a quiet residential area on the west side of the Vatican, the hotel is just 3 metro stops from the Vatican itself and just a 10 minute ride to the Spanish Steps. Rooms and public areas are decorated in a simple, classic style and have been recently refurbished. The hotel prides itself on offering comfort and value and is ideal for those looking to stay within easy reach of the centre but out of the hustle and bustle of central Rome. It is also convenient for those arriving by car as from its location there is easy access to the ring road and motorway exits.

Located in the up market Prata district of central Rome, to the west side of river Tevere and only a few minutes walk from the Vatican. The hotel Amalia offers a good level of comfort, with superior rooms also available on request. Classic decor and modern bathrooms. Residential style entrance and reception on ground floor. Breakfast room on 2nd floor but no other public areas. Lift access to all 5 floors. Good value.

Located close to the Basilica of 'Santa Maria Maggiore' and only a brief walk from the station. Well situated for visiting Rome's attractions and for Via Nazionale shopping. Comfortable hotel, officially a 4 star, hence good value, although we feel a 3 star superior rating more suitable. Hotel has Roman style cafe bar facing onto the bustling street.

Well located hotel on a quiet street in the centre of Rome, between Via Veneto and Trevi Fountain. The hotel is well looked after with high standards of comfort in tasteful surroundings. Quaint atmosphere and homely public areas to include lounge and garden courtyard. A bit pricier than your average 3 star but there are not many 3 stars in this location. Great, typically Roman restaurant opposite.

Enviably located, stepping out of the door of this hotel guests will find themselves in the artistic and cultural centre of Rome, a few minutes walk from Trevi Fountain and many of Rome's other famous sights. This small hotel has only 20 rooms and therefore offers more intimate surroundings. Good value considering its prime location and official 4 star rating.

In the heart of the Old Town near Piazza Montecitorio, this hotel has a prime location on Via del Corso, one of Rome's main shopping streets. Housed in a 16th century building with some interesting history. This is a traditonal and tastefully decorated hotel that is recently refurbished throughout in a modern classic style.

A lovely, traditional, small hotel in the heart of the city near Piazza Venezia. Beautiful Roman style breakfast room with frescos. Rooms of all sizes, some a little small and simple for what is officially a four star hotel. Overall very good value and excellent location just a short walk to the Forum and Colosseum.

Relatively new hotel on the Roman scene offering high levels of accommodation in an elegant classic style. Rooms are fitted with all mod-cons expected of a new 4 star hotel. Convenient location, a short walk from Termini station in the centre of Rome and within easy reach of historic attractions. Hotel boasts a roof top terrace giving panoramic views across Rome (not furnished). All guests receive complimentary welcome drinks, and complimentary daily newspaper.

Villa style hotel located in a picturesque residential quarter of Rome called Monte Sacro, often referred to as the 'garden city'. Although a few miles from the historic centre, there are good transport links - a variety of buses depart frequently from Piazza Sempione, 150m from the hotel, to take visitors to various city centre destinations (Bus number 90 goes directly from station to the bus stop near the hotel). The rooms are in a minimalist modern style with white walls and parquet floors. The hotel is well presented and offers a good friendly service. The hotel also offers a free shuttle service to and from the town centre (departs hotel at 10.30 and picks up in town centre at 18.30). They can also organise airport pick-ups (at extra cost).
